Apply here to audition

Why Slovenian Youth Orchestra?
The orchestra's projects bridge the gap between formal education, which focuses on technique and theory, and the realities of the profession. It is the only project of its kind in the country that gives young musicians a first-hand experience of all aspects of life as a professional musician - from auditioning to selecting projects, rehearsing and performing on the most prestigious stages. It brings together Slovenian musicians, their peers who have trained and are working in Slovenia, as well as Slovenian musicians who have trained and are working abroad.

Who can apply?
Experienced Slovenian musicians aged between 16 and 26, studying music in Slovenia (students of the Academy of Music, students of the Conservatoires of Music and Ballet) or at music academies and colleges abroad, playing one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute/piccolo, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone or percussion.

When can I apply?
Applications for the Slovenian Youth Orchestra are not open at this time. Applications for the new season will open in autumn 2023.

How many of us are there?
The orchestra is made up of between 70 and 90 young musicians each year.

What will we do?
The members of the orchestra are organised into different programmes, with the aim of each participant performing at least one concert for an audience per year. We perform one or more concert programmes per season, sometimes cross-genre or tailored to a special occasion.
