The morning concert was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the death of composer Antonio Salieri

Slovenian conductor Živa Ploj Peršuh had the honour of leading a concert at Vienna's famous Musikverein dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Italian composer Antonio Salieri, who spent most of his career in Vienna.

Concert by the Vienna Musikverein Orchestra featuring the Symphony in D major for chamber orchestra Antonia Saliericalled Veneziana, Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra in C major Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a novelty by the Czech composer Tomas Illeja and the work of the Austrian composer Franz Xaver Süssmayr.

Renowned composer and teacher to many
Salieri is an overlooked composer, and Vienna wants to change that. "The myth, reinforced among the general public by the famous film Amadeus, has caused damage. In reality, he was a very distinguished composer, and a teacher to many, Beethoven, Hummel, Schubert, Mozart and Süssmayr, to name but a few. He achieved fame as an opera composer, and in Vienna he held high positions, for example as court composer. He was well acquainted with the Italian musical world and was generally a man of great insight," she explained.

As she added, she received the invitation for the concert two or three years ago, as the programmes are set several years in advance. The promoters of the orchestras I worked with during this period came to see me at one of the concerts, met me in person and then we talked about concrete possibilities and programmes.

The camp will be part of an international campaign to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the founding of the United Nations. Sit down. Muzikal Child of Peace draws inspiration from the Declaration for future generations. "This year's co-creators will be children and young people who, through music, playing in the orchestra, singing in the choir and through dialogue, will express their thoughts on social justice, how conflicts are resolved at all levels, their aspirations and their vision for the future," said Ploj Peršuh. In the past years, she said, they have repeatedly tackled socially responsible themes, using music as a universal, universally understandable language.Alarm H2SO4, Vivaldi's The Four Seasons of Uncertainty using artificial intelligence, concerts as part of the Samo1planet campaign, Music for the future and the like are our tools through which a young person learns to use his or her voice and, above all, to be aware of it.
