There is no doubt that the last two years have been devastating for the art of music, as events that connect, inspire and improve young people have been completely curtailed by the pandemic. Your contribution will give young musicians what was taken away from them during the pandemic. If ever there was a time to actively support young people, it is now. 2022 HIGHLIGHTS

SUMMER CONCERT WE

The Slovenian Youth Orchestra has traditionally presented programmes at the Ljubljana Festival that combine classical music into multi-genre concerts. After collaborations with Vlad Kreslin, Balladero, Jadranka Juras, Emke and the Katalena group, this time the orchestra is hosting the Krajnčan family, a family imbued with music and art.
With their parents Lojze and Romana being respected musicians who have been co-creating the Slovenian musical landscape for decades, it is extremely inspiring to follow the paths of their sons Kristijan and Žigan. Both of them have been kneading music in many directions, creating it, recreating it with all their senses and movement, and intertwining it with other genres and arts. All members of the family are collaborators and co-authors. At the same time, they allow themselves and each other freedom in their own artistic language, while inspiring each other as artists in their own right.

Alongside a programme of original and arranged works featuring all members of this artistic family, we will also discover and play works by the English composer Gustav Holst, a selection from his orchestral suite Planets, Op.32, and the hugely popular Danzon No.2 by the Mexican composer Arturo Marquez.

ALARM

It is a multimedia music performance to make a change in nature and society heard and to remind us that there is hope for healing wounds. The event will take place in June at Križanke, with performances by musicians from Camerata SMO and young rappers Masayah, Vazz, Ghet, Žena and others.
The event will reveal the interplay of seemingly incompatible classical music with an algorithmic reworking of Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons and rap as an interpretation of Slovenian poetry.
The conductor will be Živa Ploj Peršuh and the event will be directed by Matej Filipčič.

POK2022

The 10-day summer orchestra camp is designed for socialising and music-making, to be inspired by music and art in general. It is about making friends and creating an environment that encourages progress. It is a place where young people can fully express their talents and learn to broaden their musical and personal paths. A large group of talented young musicians, up to 100 individuals, will learn to form a large symphony orchestra in just one week. This year's symphony orchestra programme will once again be genre diverse, ranging from classical to jazz and Latin American rhythms. Participants will take part in an intensive music programme with section rehearsals, group rehearsals, chamber music, orchestra rehearsals and, of course, rehearsals with soloists.

Participants will also take part in artistic workshops, such as learning circus skills for better concentration, theatre improvisation workshops for relaxed and confident performance, workshops for free expression and body control, dance workshops for strong presence and self-confidence, music workshops for basic improvisation, and artistic workshops to enhance creativity. The sessions will be led by renowned musicians and former participants of our international activities.

GALA EVENING

The SMO Friends and Business Partners Gala is a unique evening where young people will introduce themselves to you, guide you through an evening of socialising and music, and thank you for your faith in them and their music. The evening will be a mix of art, cuisine and dance.
