The orchestra is dedicated to socialising and making music, to enthusiasm for the art of music and the arts in general, to making friends and to progressing in life. It is a place and time where young people can fully express their talents while learning about the diversity of musical and personal paths. In the orchestra, young people build musical, cultural and social bridges with drive, determination, courage and will.

The effective long-term implementation of the Slovenian National Youth Orchestra project opens up unparalleled opportunities for representing and showcasing the enormous cultural potential of our country. The main participants are the young people who will shape and enrich our country tomorrow. Our young performers, the future artistic elite, will set themselves the highest challenges in the orchestra and put themselves on the map of Europe.

WE ARE INSPIRATION

We promote the development of the personality and skills of individuals through a sustainable programme at the highest level and in collaboration with renowned experts in various musical (and other artistic) fields. At the same time, we strengthen and appeal to their sense of responsibility and their attitude towards society, solidarity and humanity. We want young people to become more aware and caring towards national values as well as other cultures, countries and individuals.

The Slovenian Youth Orchestra Summer Orchestra Camp is an exciting opportunity to socialise, play, make and perform music. The orchestra camp promotes flexibility in learning music and demonstrates inspiration through the arts. It forges bonds of friendship and opens an environment for progress. We strongly encourage peer collaboration. In just over a week, a large group of talented young musicians learn to form a large symphony orchestra and perform at their best. In such an ensemble, we work to professional standards and aim high. We make a video of each programme and present it on the most prestigious stages in Slovenia.

Participants take part in an intensive music programme with section rehearsals, group rehearsals, chamber music, orchestra rehearsals and of course rehearsals with soloists during the camp. Renowned musicians and former participants of our international activities are mentors of all music rehearsals.

Participation in variable additional artistic workshops is recommended for all participants. The workshops promote skills for better concentration, for a relaxed and confident performance, for free expression and body control, for a strong presence and self-confidence. There are music workshops on the basics of improvisation, art workshops to promote creativity. The workshops are organised in cooperation with the Pioneer Center for Youth Culture and inspiring individuals.
