Mary Rome teaches at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana, where she will take up the post of Assistant Professor of Viola in the 2019/2020 semester. She graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of Prof. Mileto Kosi, and completed her postgraduate studies in Ljubljana and at the Detmold School of Music in Detmold in the class of Prof. Diemut Poppen. During her studies she received additional training from professors such as Hariolf Schlichtig, Wolfram Christ, Mile Kosi, etc. 

She is a recipient of the Prešeren Student Award and the Crystal Emblem of the City of Celje for her academic achievements. As a solo violist of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, she has collaborated with conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Charles Dutoit, Andres Orozco-Estrada, Marko Letonja, Julian Rachlin ... 

She has been a solo violist of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, a soloist and member of the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber String Orchestra, and has performed at several international festivals (Festival Ljubljana, Sozvoočje svetov, Festival Slowind, Festival Maribor, Ohrid Summer Festival, Zagreb Biennial, etc.).) and had the opportunity to participate in various chamber ensembles with top musicians such as Dmitrij Sitkovetski, Sreten Krstić, Andreas Janke, Diemut Poppen, Primož Novšak and members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He also performs Slovenian contemporary music. She is a member of the MD7 Ensemble and has given several premieres of works by Slovenian composers for solo viola or chamber ensemble.
