Monika Trilar Babič has been a solo oboist with the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor Orchestra since 2018.

She studied with oboist Professor Emanuel Abbühl at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, before completing her Master's degree with a special mention Summa cum laude at the Academy of Music Ljubljana in the class of Professor Matej Šarc.

She is very committed to orchestral and chamber music and enjoys performing in various ensembles at home and abroad. She has often collaborated with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, with which she also appeared as a soloist in a performance of Richard Strauss's Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra. She was awarded the Prešeren Student Prize by the Academy of Music.

She is a multiple winner of the gold plaque and first prize at TEMSIG competitions and has also won prizes at competitions abroad. She regularly participates in music festivals and studies with internationally renowned musicians, among whom Maurice Bourgue is a special honour.

She enjoys working with young people and is happy to work as a mentor, now for several years, with Slovenian youth orchestras.
