On 21 August 2024, the Križanke stage at the Ljubljana Festival hosted an enchanting musical event that wowed sold-out audiences with a repertoire that transcended generations, borders and genres. The orchestra, made up of POK24 participants and members of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra, took the audience on an emotional journey through unforgettable film melodies such as Tom and Jerry, Kekec and The Godfather, under the skilful baton of conductor Živa Ploj Peršuh.
The highlight of the evening was a special performance by Finnish soloist Lauri Porra, who presented his outstanding composition Entropia – Concerto for Electric Bass Guitar and Symphony Orchestra. This innovative highlight of the evening, combining classical and modern elements, added a dynamic and electrifying energy to the concert.
The event was masterfully moderated by Marcel Štefančič. The Slovenian Youth Orchestra once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing young talent and gave a performance that not only enthralled the audience, but also visibly moved the musicians, some of whom shed tears of joy when they received a standing ovation.
The concert featured a varied selection of works, including Bernstein's Mambom and Tchaikovsky Floral waltzeseach of which was carried out with intense passion and skill. The diversity of the orchestra and the deep connection with the audience made the evening truly unforgettable.
