The European Federation of National Youth Orchestras is an important driving force for symphonic music. It is an evolving association deeply rooted in European musical life and provides a unique platform for the exchange of experiences in orchestral training. It takes responsibility for future orchestral musicians and therefore initiates cooperation projects and supports the mobility of young musicians. At the recent General Assembly held in Athens in June 2022, Živa Ploj Peršuh, Artistic Director of the SMO and Tomo Peršuh, General Director of the SMO, presented their initiative to the EFNYO delegates with an inspiring presentation of their active and committed work with young Slovenian musicians. The Board members praised the work with young people from the age of 12 and the methods that engage and connect musicians of different levels and social backgrounds. The General Assembly therefore unanimously approved their application for full membership. This allows for closer links with other national youth orchestras, participation in local and European projects, networking and networking, and to be placed on the European map of youth musical excellence.
