Young Ukrainian musicians to open Europe Week

Ljubljana – Young Ukrainian musicians who are in Slovenia as part of the project called Music for the Future will perform a concert of classical music outside EU House in Ljubljana on Thursday evening at the outset of Europe Week.

The event, which is being organised by the European Commission’s Representation in Slovenia, will also feature a debate with the young musicians, tasting of typical Ukrainian dishes prepared by students of the Ljubljana Biotechnical Educational Centre and an exhibition mounted by pupils of the Maks Pečar primary school.

The young Ukrainian musicians fleeing war in their country have found refuge in Slovenia with the help of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra. As part of the charity and musical project Music for the Future they will perform a concert at Cankarjev Dom on 11 May with conductor Živa Ploj Peršuh and violinist Gidon Kremer.

In cooperation with Slovenian UNICEF the concert will also serve as a fund-raiser to help the participating musicians and their families from Ukraine and for UNICEF programmes in support of Ukrainian children and families.
