On Saturday at 19.30 in the Great Hall SNG Maribor will host a charity concert featuring young musicians from Ukraine, joined by the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Živa Ploj Peršuh. The concert, which will raise money for their further stay and education in Slovenia, will be held under the auspices of the Soroptimist Club Maribor, which has been operating for three decades, and the scholarship of talented musicians is the main thread of its work. "This is a way for young Ukrainian musicians to say thank you for being so openly welcomed in our country.
All the funds from the charity concert will go towards their education so that they can continue to develop their musical talent here," says Mirjana Zgaga, President of the humanitarian Soroptimist Club Maribor. Young talented Ukrainian musicians who took refuge in Slovenia before the war are provided with accommodation, general education, individual instrumental lessons, group lessons, chamber ensembles, orchestral rehearsals... The Soroptimist Club Maribor is part of the Soroptimist International network, an international association of professionally successful and socially active women with more than 100,000 members in 130 countries. Their activities mainly support young talented artists and help women and families in need, as well as children and the elderly with special needs. The Maribor Soroptimists have supported, among others, Luka Šulič, Eva Šulič, pianist Nejc Kaple, hornist Andrej Žust, trumpeter František Košem, soprano Nika Gorič and many others, as well as the Maribor Safe House, projects PRIMARY SCHOOLS Young musicians from Ukraine will perform together with the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the direction of Živa Ploj Peršuh. Gustav Šilih, the Levjesrčni Hospice Camp for Grieving Children, and now they are also helping Ukrainian refugees in Maribor. "We have partnered with Slovenian Philanthropy in Maribor to help Ukrainian refugees," says Mirjana Zgaga. It should also be noted that Saturday's charity concert will feature works by Ukrainian and Slovenian composers. The young Ukrainian and Slovenian musicians will be conducted by Olga Huma from Ukraine and Živa Ploj Peršuh.
