Two festivals, one musical magic - Slovenian Youth Orchestra impresses at two prestigious Romanian festivals

Sinaia/Bucharest, 9 August 2024 - The Slovenian Youth Orchestra shone at two prestigious music festivals in Romania. Under the direction of conductor Živa Ploj Peršuh and with violinist Rok Zaletel Černoš as soloist, they impressed audiences first on 7 August at the Festival Internațional Vară Magică, and yesterday, 8 August, at the Festival Internațional "Enescu și muzica lumii" in Sinaia.

On 8 August, the orchestra performed at the famous Casino Hall in Sinai, where they played works by Brahms, Osterc, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven under the baton of Živa Ploj Peršuh. Rok Zaletel Černoš, who this year was the first Slovenian violinist to take part in the prestigious International P.I. Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, added his virtuosity to an already outstanding programme. Černoš, a graduate of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, is currently completing his master's studies with Prof. Meljnikov at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, for which he is receiving a scholarship from the Municipality of Ljubljana. During his studies he received, among many other prizes, the Prešeren Prize.

The Slovenian Youth Orchestra's visit to Romania is an important opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries, as music, as a universal language, brings people together and creates bridges of friendship. Through these performances, the Slovenian Youth Orchestra and their soloists proudly represent Slovenia and its rich musical heritage, and bring much magic and joy to all lovers of classical music.

The Internațional Festival "Enescu și muzica lumii" takes place from 2 to 25 August in Sinaia and includes 21 concerts in various venues, including the famous Sinaia Casino, the Casa Memorială George Enescu, the Sinaia Museum, the Știrbei Park and the Biserico Romano Catolică. Created by cellist and professor Marin Cazacu, the festival brings together a rich variety of musical works and collaborates with many youth orchestras. The performance of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra was extremely well received by the audience and critics alike.

The Internațional Vară Magică Festival, which takes place from 3 July to 21 August 2024 in Bucharest, is one of the most important summer cultural events in Europe.
