The first musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine already in Ljubljana
67 musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and their accompanists arrived in Ljubljana this morning. Their evacuation was organised by the Slovenian Youth Orchestra.
95 people were supposed to come, but only 67 - musicians and their accompanists - turned up, as not everyone managed to get through. Those who went by car will try to reach Budapest today. As they do not let boys over 18 out of the country, only a few younger ones came, mostly girls. They are staying in two youth hotels in Ljubljana.
According to Nina Stankovič, spokesperson of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra, due to complicated logistics and administration at the border, the two buses departed from the western Ukrainian town of Chop on Sunday evening, although their departure had been scheduled for mid-day.
