Appeal for support for the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine

Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes because of the fighting in Ukraine. People are facing a humanitarian catastrophe in the middle of Europe. So far, more than one million people have fled across international borders. Many of them have only been able to take what they could carry with them. Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SMO) with conductor SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and Artistic Director SMO Živo Ploj Peršuh responded to a request for help in an emergency Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU), led by internationally renowned conductor Oksana Lyniv, who is also the artistic director of Teatro Bologna. SMO cooperate with the competent authorities, the Municipality of Ljubljana and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the organisation YSOU from Ukraine and is ready to assist and provide evacuation and humanitarian first aid, accommodation and follow-up assistance in case of prolonged stay.
