Darko Brlek: You can never have too much quality cultural offer

This time, you have also given space to the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the leadership of conductor and artistic director Živa Ploj Peršuh. Why do you think this is so important?

We have been working with the Slovenian Youth Orchestra and its conductor and artistic director Živa Ploj Peršuh since the orchestra was founded in 2019. Since then, they have presented a diverse repertoire at both the Winter Festival, which they will complete this year, and the Ljubljana Festival in summer. Youth orchestras play a key role in the development of young musicians, allowing them to hone their technical skills and make an important contribution to the cultural and musical landscape. They learn to work together, to coordinate their playing and to follow the conductor's instructions. They also provide a stimulating platform for musicians from different backgrounds and help to break down barriers to participation in classical music, making the genre more accessible and representative.

Navarro will lead Ensemble Dissonance, and the soloists will be singer Lidia Rodríguez González and trumpeter Vicente Campos, followed by a recital by violinist Maxim Vengerov with pianist Vag Papian, and the festival will close with a performance by the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Živa Ploj Peršuh and violinist Rok Zaletel Černoš. I am sure that all this year's concerts will bring idyllic winter experiences and will enliven the events in Ljubljana during the winter holidays.
